So here is the story:
Friday night around 11:00PM I was bathing Evie upstairs, I noticed that there was a cramp like feeling in my upper abdomen. I thought it was a cramp due to dehydration so I took some Advil and drank some water, and nothing improved. The pain began to increase in intensity, and we thought it might be acid reflux or something like that, so I took some Tums. Around 1:00AM the pain was so bad that I was doubled over and we started to think about the ER. Skylar thought that the pain might have been stress related or a panic attack, so I tried taking a warm bath. It helped me calm down a bit and the pain diminished somewhat, but it was still there. After the bath, we tried to go to bed, but the pain was increasing again, causing me to once again double over in pain, cry, throw up, and have trouble breathing. At 3:00AM we went to the ER.
At the ER, the nurse and on call doctor checked me out and pretty much determined right off the back that it was my gallbladder. Around 4:00AM the ultrasound tech came in, did his thing and left, then the doctor came back telling me that they were going to admit me and have me meet with the surgeon when he gets in. Turns out I had a marble sized stone blocking the valve in my gallbladder. Fun times.
We got admitted, all of us were able to get some sleep (Evie of course slept through all of this) Skylar was able to sleep on the pull out sofa bed in my room, then around 10:00AM the surgeon came in, went over everything, and I was turfed off to the OR and when I returned, I was sans a gallbladder.
We were able to leave the hospital around 6:30PM that night, after I was forced to eat a meal and keep it down. They originally ordered me Cream of Wheat, but I changed it to ham and mashed potatoes cause it sounded much better. We got home and I laid on the couch until we went to bed.
Today (the day after) I am VERY sore, even more sore than yesterday since everything wore off. They gave me pain pills which help, but not as much as I would like. Evie and Skylar both have been wonderful. Skylar was lacking a lot of sleep, but he never got cranky and took care of Evie and me amazingly well. Evie experienced formula for the first time since I was put under and was unable to breastfeed her. She went through the frozen supply and had to suffer through the formula for her evening feedings last night. She did pretty well but definitely does not prefer it.
We will keep everyone updated as things progress. As of right now we are still going to Oklahoma on Friday.
