More Pictures!

It's been a crazy couple of days getting Sebastian home and everything settled around the house with a 3 year-old. He's still doing great and Evie loves having her new baby brother around. More to come!

Evie and Sebastian

Some pictures from when Evie came to visit Sebastian last night. I have a video to upload as well, but I'll need to wait until I get home to get that posted. It looks like we're staying another night so Sebastian can have his 24 hours check up and pediatrician visit.

Sebastian Joseph Scaling

Born January 17, 2012 at 8:27 p.m. at St. Francis Medical Center in Colorado Springs, CO. Weighing 7lbs 7oz and 20" long, he is a healthy and calm baby boy! After nearly 13 hours of labor, mommy got him out in 4 pushes! Attending physician was Dr. Michelle Covalt.

Happy Birthday Sebastian!

Day Goes By...

Still no baby yet. Almost 7cm dilated. Still hopeful for a baby before bedtime. Sebastian is in no hurry.

Epidural!

Sarah finally decided to go for the epidural, and now her contractions are much more tolerable. The anesthesiologist said ~90% of the births that come through here get epidurals, so apparently giving birth is a little painful. Who knew?

She's up to about 6cm dilation now, so we're still making progress. We're hoping for a baby before bedtime, but we'll see if Sebastian is willing to comply with our schedule :)

Taking the Edge Off

With the contractions getting stronger, Sarah got some pain medication to help take the edge off. Not to the epidural stage yet, but we'll see how well this works for now.

A Picture is Worth 1000 Words

So these pictures should do a good job of telling you how it's going right now:

A Little Help

Dr. Covalt came to check on Sarah again, and she's now dilated to 5cm. In order to try and speed things up a bit, the doctor went ahead and broke Sarah's water. Hopefully we'll see the baby in a few hours!

Slow and Steady

Dr. Covalt came to check on Sarah and she's dilated to 4cm. Not a big change, but she's progressing. The doctor said she'd check back in a couple of hours and if she's not making more progress, then she'll probably break Sarah's water.

Looks like we're in it for the long haul!

Getting Tougher

Don't let the smile fool you, she's feeling some stronger contractions. But she's toughing it out. The doctor will hopefully be in to check on her in about an hour and we'll find out how close we really are. Stay tuned!

The Waiting Game

The Pitocin has been administered and Sarah's contractions are slowly getting stronger. Sarah's doctor visited and said she would check on her progress around noon. For now, we're watching Sherlock Holmes on the room television and waiting. Fun times!

Evie's Visit

Nana brought Evie by to see Mommy at the hospital before going to school at daycare. Evie is excited for Sebastian to come, and will come back to visit once he's here.

Room With a View

Our view of Pike's Peak on a winter morning in Colorado Springs. Trust me, it's back there somewhere.

Check-in!

Checked in for our 7:30 induction and Sarah is in her beautiful gown. Toe socks are on and monitors are attached. Baby's heart sounds good, we're ready to go!

And so it begins ....sort of.

So it is the day before the induction and things are going pretty well. Sarah is already having pretty regular contractions, however they are just not strong enough. Who knows, maybe Sebastian will make his entrance earlier than expected. the good news about all of this is that since Sarah is already three cm dilated and fifty percent effaced as of last Tuesday, her labor and delivery should go much faster this time around.
