Evie's First Christmas!

So today was Evie's first Christmas. Bright and early we went over to Grandma and Grandpa's to open presents with them, since we opened presents with Grammy last night. Mommy and Daddy had a lot of fun opening presents, while Evie spent the time in different peoples arms sleeping away most of Christmas morning. Later on, Grammy and Aunt Malayna came over for Christmas Dinner and we celebrated Evie's first Christmas as a whole family, which made Mommy and Daddy very happy to have everyone there to celebrate with us.

We would like to take this time to thank everyone for their wonderful presents. We greatly appreciate them and hope everyone had a wonderful and safe Christmas!

Evie and Santa!

Doesn't Evie look ever so happy?

More Christmas Eve Pics!

Here are some more pictures. Does Santa look familiar to anyone else?

Evie's First Christmas Eve!

We had the most amazing Christmas Eve this year. First, we spent the day hanging out with Grammy Cathy and Aunt Malayna. Then we went to Grandma and Grandpa's house for dinner to visit with family, friends, and Santa! We capped off the evening back at Grammy's house opening Christmas presents.

More Baptism photos

Here are some more pics and whatnot of Evie's big day.

Evie's Baptism

Yesterday was Evie's Baptism at St. Francis. She looked so beautiful in her gown, which was not only worn by her mommy and Aunty Kaite, but also her dear old Uncle KJ as well :) When we arrived at the church, Evie was still sleeping, we thought that she would at least wake up when Deacon Tony poured the water over her head, however, she simply shrugged a bit and kept on sleeping. I tell you that child can sleep through anything and everything.

After the Baptism we went back to Grandma and Grandpa's house for cake and punch. After changing her out of her dress, (we didn't want to risk ruining it) everyone had a chance to hold her and see how wonderful she is. Skylar and I were really happy because our friend Zach from college was able to come and see her. Her Godfather, Presley, brought his two boys, the oldest, Caed, couldn't get enough of her. He wanted to hold her and was so excited when he was allowed to feed her. It was a really good day and we were so happy that so many people were able to join us.

We Made It!

We have finally arrived in Enid! We got into town around 1:30AM on Saturday morning. For the first week we are staying with Cathy, then the second week we are staying with Ken and Carolyn. It has been pretty good so far. Evie's great grandma and cousin Amie have flown down to help Evie celebrate her first Christmas and she has enjoyed all the attention. Sunday we are celebrating Evie's Baptism and we are getting excited about seeing her all dressed up. Many fun times are ahead for us!

Still sore

So I am still sore, I am sure that you all really care about that... Evie is doing really well. She loves to lay on her play mat and move around. She is really close to turning over from her belly. She gets completely on her side and then stops. I dont think she knows what to do with her arm once she is laying on it.

The current plan as of now, is that we leave for Enid on Friday at around 1pm. We cannot leave Thursday anymore because I have to meet with my surgeon for my follow up and Skylar has a work lunch from 11am-1pm Friday. Man I hope we get there soon. I never thought I would say this, but I cannot wait to get to Enid.

Bye bye gallbladder

So here is the story:

Friday night around 11:00PM I was bathing Evie upstairs, I noticed that there was a cramp like feeling in my upper abdomen. I thought it was a cramp due to dehydration so I took some Advil and drank some water, and nothing improved. The pain began to increase in intensity, and we thought it might be acid reflux or something like that, so I took some Tums. Around 1:00AM the pain was so bad that I was doubled over and we started to think about the ER. Skylar thought that the pain might have been stress related or a panic attack, so I tried taking a warm bath. It helped me calm down a bit and the pain diminished somewhat, but it was still there. After the bath, we tried to go to bed, but the pain was increasing again, causing me to once again double over in pain, cry, throw up, and have trouble breathing. At 3:00AM we went to the ER.

At the ER, the nurse and on call doctor checked me out and pretty much determined right off the back that it was my gallbladder. Around 4:00AM the ultrasound tech came in, did his thing and left, then the doctor came back telling me that they were going to admit me and have me meet with the surgeon when he gets in. Turns out I had a marble sized stone blocking the valve in my gallbladder. Fun times.

We got admitted, all of us were able to get some sleep (Evie of course slept through all of this) Skylar was able to sleep on the pull out sofa bed in my room, then around 10:00AM the surgeon came in, went over everything, and I was turfed off to the OR and when I returned, I was sans a gallbladder.

We were able to leave the hospital around 6:30PM that night, after I was forced to eat a meal and keep it down. They originally ordered me Cream of Wheat, but I changed it to ham and mashed potatoes cause it sounded much better. We got home and I laid on the couch until we went to bed.

Today (the day after) I am VERY sore, even more sore than yesterday since everything wore off. They gave me pain pills which help, but not as much as I would like. Evie and Skylar both have been wonderful. Skylar was lacking a lot of sleep, but he never got cranky and took care of Evie and me amazingly well. Evie experienced formula for the first time since I was put under and was unable to breastfeed her. She went through the frozen supply and had to suffer through the formula for her evening feedings last night. She did pretty well but definitely does not prefer it.

We will keep everyone updated as things progress. As of right now we are still going to Oklahoma on Friday.

Oh the weather outside is frightful...

So there is at least five to six inches of snow out here, and because of it, it has caused some interesting travel problems for my family. The good news is that they were able to get out of Colorado, the bad news is that they have to stay the night in New Mexico because the roads there are closed. Hopefully tomorrow they will be able to get home safely.

Evie had her first trip outside in the snow. We bundled her up nice and snug and took her outside to see it, and naturally she slept through it. We hope soon to see her playing in it and going on her first sled ride.

Happy Turkey Day!

Today was Evie's first Thanksgiving and it was a blast. The food was good, the company was great, and the entertainment was excellent. Evie spent most of the day shifting from the arms of everyone here, including her Unkie KJ, who really didn't have a choice but I put her in his arms anyways. The day was topped off by our first really good snow. They are predicting about three inches, which makes us all very excited.

The best thing, or at least one of the most entertaining things is when Evie decided to show how much she was thankful for her daddy by projecting her vomit all over him once he got to hold her. :)

We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and good luck with Black Friday shoppers!

One month old!!!

So its hard to believe, but Evie is officially one month old, how this happened, I have no clue, but it has. Tomorrow is going to be our first Thanksgiving as a complete family and we are so excited. Evie's Aunt Katie, Unkie Zach, and Unkie KJ have come to join us, and I dont think Auntie Katie is going to let her go, we will see what happens over the next couple of days.

Other than that, Evie's head control is improving, she loves to keep it up and look around at whats going on. Her eyes are still an amazing grayish blue which we hope they stay, or at least become completely gray, and she is a drooler like no other. The only sad thing is that she has a bad case of baby acne on her the right side of her face due to the fact that that is the side she sleeps on, other than that, things are excellent.

Bath Time!!

Evie is doing great. She is staying up more during the day and sleeping more during the night. Her head control is amazing. She can now lift it and hold it for almost a minute. She also loves holding her head up while you are burping her and moving it around side to side. She has to be able to see whats going on or she tends to get a little fussy.

Since her umbilical cord finally fell out, she gets to take full body baths, which she definitely seems to enjoy much more than the sponge bath. We think that she will definitely be one of those kids who never wants to get out of the water, rather its the tub or a pool.

OSU game

Here is Evie watching the OSU game. She is just a happy baby.

It's about time

So, after finally burning the photos to a dvd, we now have room on our camera's memory card to take pictures once again! Evie is doing great. At her last doctors appointment a week ago, she was at 8lbs, 2oz and was 21.25" Luckily for us, she has been sleeping from anywhere from 4 hours to 5 hours at a time at night which is GREAT! Skylar and I are thinking that she will either play soccer or become a swimmer because the girl can kick! Changing her diaper has become an Olympic event. She cannot keep her feet still, which has led to some interesting diaper placements. Everything is going great and we are ready for Christmas to come so we can see everyone!

Currently Skylar's mom Cathy and his sister Malayna are visiting us for a week and she is so happy to see them, as are Cathy and Malayna :) We will have more pictures posted soon!

These pictures are of us watching the OSU/CU football game. Evie will either be going there or BC if I have anything to say!

PS. We have gotten professional pictures done and they should be up soon along with a website where you can order some if you would like.
